We have the sad task of informing everyone that unfortunately there has been a confirmed case of Lens Luxation/Glaucoma in one of our progeny. As responsible breeders we intend to let everyone know! The facts are; we regrettably mated TaZ to Chanel & Prada who are closely related: (Rebohm’s Tiramisu by Kavishi is TaZ’s mum & Chanel/Prada’s grandmother, perhaps this was too close!). We had been told that there shouldn’t be any problems as their lines were healthy! Therefore we believe that in doing this could well have exacerbated the problem. Consequently TaZ will not be used at stud even though he is over 8 years old and there is nothing wrong with his eyes. The report we have been sent states “It is inherited in other breeds and may well be in Shar-Pei.” Anyone who has progeny from TaZ must be aware that there could be possible risks.
